Founded in 2013, The Vocal Network is THE premiere coed a cappella group at Facebook's Menlo Park office! We were one of the two founding groups for Techapella, the network of a cappella groups from various tech companies. Techapella has had a winter concert every December for the last four years in the Silicon Valley and we're so happy to have helped develop this into an incredible post-college a cappella scene! #adulting The Vocal Network covers all types of genres from all decades and are proud to have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Fox Theatre in Redwood City. Check out our collection of songs on our YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq_vk2DRHhYl5oWzwHHxmxA/videos.
THUN-DER!!! Named after a famous AC/DC song, Funderstruck was founded in 2014 when a small group of friends suddenly realized their common passion for singing like divas in their cars, showers, and other random places. We still sing everywhere, but now we join forces. Our original arrangements range from barbershop to top 40, video game music and hits from the greatest legends of pop/rock. Because "Fun", "Energy" and "Music" are in our genes, we are silly and addicted to singing together! We sincerely hope your ears are well attached because we will charge your sound space!
The Peninsulaires, Silicon Valley's Barbershop Chorus℠, retained the Northwest Division Plateau AA Championship at the Far Western District Northwest Divisional Contest in Mc Clellan Park, Calif. on March 10, 2017. Under the musical helm of Sean Abel, the chorus has taken tremendous strides in improving their collective vocal craft with a new "vocal model." The vocal model increases the lock and ring of the so-called "barbershop chord." It is that chord that the chorus holds dear, and will wield in competition against other Bay Area choruses twice yearly. Continuing the path of excellence, the Chorus presents the annual Spring Show just three weeks later, and promises to delight the a cappella enthusiast of all levels.
In May 2017, the chorus will open their doors to the sixth annual Free Voice Lessons. This free workshop runs seven weeks from May through June, ending with a joint session with the Lovely Ladies of BASC, a local women's chorus. Peninsulaires Assistant Director and Vocal Coach, Paul Eastman leads sessions ranging from the fundamentals of breath control to the fundamentals of range expansion, and more. The Free Voice Lessons will help any singer, from the karaoke master to the bathtub baritone. Many successful graduates of the Free Voice Lessons are now performing members of the Peninsulaires Chorus. Registration is now available at https://www.freevoicelessons.net/.
The Peninsulaires Chorus was founded in 1948, making it one of the longest continually running barbershop choruses in the Far Western District. The Far Western District encompasses the states of California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, and a portion of Utah, and is one of seventeen districts of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA). Founded by Owen C. Cash in 1938, the organization quickly grew, promoting barbershop harmony among men of all ages. Just under 25,000 men in the United States and Canada are members of this national organization whose focus is on a cappella music.
